Let me convince you to make this a thesis.
Imagine boarding a bus or a jeepney, trusting your driver with your life. Then you see him glued to his phone, gambling online, barely noticing the road. One wrong move and dozens of passengers could be hurt, or worse. This is not fiction. It happened in Cavite and on EDSA. Videos exposed how public transport drivers gamble online while driving. The Land Transportation Office suspended the bus driver’s license for 90 days, and the jeepney driver now faces investigation. Companies were forced to act, but only after public outrage.
What’s really wrong here? It’s not just about one reckless driver. It’s about a bigger problem of distracted driving in public transport. It’s the lack of strict monitoring, weak implementation of traffic laws, and drivers risking lives for a quick thrill. How many more will gamble on their phones while we gamble with our safety? This is the research gap. We don’t have enough studies showing how dangerous distracted driving really is for public transport passengers. We don’t know how often it happens, or how to stop it. And that ignorance costs lives.
